Creating the Vampire Look
One of the most popular costumes for Halloween is the vampire. People love
going to the party as Dracula. The biggest problem is getting the makeup right.
When you apply vampire makeup it is important to get it right so you don’t look
silly or Goth.
The thing to remember with a vampire is that they do not have a tan or healthy skin tone. Someone that is tan cannot go as a vampire unless they are willing to go all
out with the makeup and do it right. You must achieve the pale, dramatic,
bloodsucking look.
The first thing that you need to do when creating a vampire costume for Halloween
is to cover the entire face and neck with the palest makeup that you can. White is usually the preference for a vampire face. Pure white costume makeup or even the palest cosmetic foundation can work. Blend it over the entire face, the neck and
even on the ears if you really want it to be realistic. If your neckline or chest is
showing then you will need to match all of the skin by covering the chest also.
The eyebrows are a big part of a vampire costume because vampires have a
significant arch in their brows. Use black eyeliner and make the arch in an upward direction. If you want the eyebrow to be a focal point on the vampire face, then be
sure that the arch is thin. Some people use brown for the eyebrow but it is best to
use black to match the hair.
You will need to use a liquid or pencil black eyeliner. If the pencil is not soft
enough then you can soften the tip with a hot hair dryer for a moment. You will
need to start the line from the corner of the eye on the inside to the top of the lid,
almost the beginning of the nose. Draw the exact same line on the other eye.
The lips of a vampire need to be another focal point on the face. Outline the lips
with a black pencil. If the person you are making a vampire face on has thin lips
then enhance them and make them bigger. Fill in the lips with bright red lipstick.
Some people like to use the blood gel and place drops coming from the corner of
the mouth down the lower lip.
Vampires are a very popular choice for a Halloween costume. It is common for
people to go as a vampire but not look good at all. This may be due to having the wrong skin tone and improper focus. Be sure that the focal points are the
eyebrows, eyes and the lips. The skin is a given and it has to be as pale as you
can get it. Don’t forget the fake fangs that you will wear in your mouth. Also, if
you do not have black hair then you will need to use black hair dye. Shape a V in
the middle of your forehead for your artificial vampire hairline also. |
