Applying Halloween Makeup

Applying Halloween makeup can be tricky when you are trying to achieve a certain
look or putting it on hard to reach places.  There are tips and tricks when you are applying makeup for Halloween.

When you are choosing Halloween makeup you want to consider the type of
makeup you are going to use.  Cheap makeup that you find in the stores can often irritate the skin.  Although you might only be planning on wearing it for a few hours
you may wake up in the morning with a problematic skin tone.  Think about using
your daily makeup or at least a brand that you already trust. 

You don’t need a lot of makeup when you are trying to achieve a dramatic result. 
Think about your skin.  Be sparing with your makeup on the eyes.  All you really
need for a dramatic look is mascara, eye shadow and eye liner.  You can lay it on thicker than you do on a daily basis to achieve the look you are going for but don’t
go overboard.  Leave some of the mystery with the costume also.

If you are trying to achieve a sexy look with your eyes with a vampire or a cat, use black liquid eyeliner.  Use the eyeliner last on top of the foundation and other
choices as a base.  Paint a line of black eyeliner across the lid of the eye from the
corner and extend the line upward in a curve.  Some people like to wear fake eyelashes.  This can look good but all you really need is a thick black mascara to achieve excellent results.

Witches look fabulous with metallic eye shadow.  You can usually use any color that you would like and get away with it. Silver looks excellent on a witch.  If you are
trying to achieve a sultry effect, use your finger to apply the eye shadow.  Apply it
to the entire lid.  When you are done, you might want to add a touch of glitter to
the lash line to add a finishing effect. 

Ghosts are formed with white eye crème makeup.  You will have to use your
fingers to apply around the eyelids and the difficult areas on the face.  When you
are finished applying the white crème it is best to use white powder and dust over
the application.  White powder will take away the shiny look but it will also help
prevent smudging.
